Hi everyone,

I'm new to arduino but have been soldering electronic projects for many years. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for controlling 110 volt power without resorting to cutting wires, bare soldering relays etc?

I can see there are a few products on the market like the Powerswitch Tail (currently sold out), does anyone have any experience with these? ControllerX looks like a new option (http://www.reversepr.com.au/2017/06/24/ ... rt-switch/), any thoughts on that design?

Is there a fully FCC compliant product available? What safety features are people building into their high voltage relay circuits for piece of mind?

Thanks,

There are really no major safety issues connecting a solid state relay (SSR) to an Arduino, as long as you select one with adequate ratings and a "3 to 32" V input, which means the optoisolator LED has a series resistor. Just connect the relay + input to an output pin, and connect the grounds. 1500 volt isolation!

With a proper enclosure you are good to go. I've been using them on 220 VAC well pumps and hot tubs for years with no problems.

You will find an SSR in the products you have been looking at.
