I recently purchased a shapeoko and everything was going great until I started to run another batch of gcode and the z-axis was moving 4 times the desired distance.

Steps:
Reset 0 at lower left of my project
set UGS to move .25"
Pressed the Z+ and it moved up one inch. Not realizing this when I hit SEND it was a scramble to shut it down (Project is scrap)

Things tried:
- moved the X-Axis to the z-axis on the stepoko board to give me room to move the motor
- Reviewed the firmware setting (All correct) 40 steps/mm for XYZ axis
- Other values are matching for the XYZ axis
- Set dip switches to full step - Same issue, except it moves even farther
- $RST=* and then verified/reset all firmware settings
- Tried different PC thinking it may have been the UGS program - Same issue
- Changed the 40 steps/mm to 10 and it moves the correct amount

NOTE: Both the x and y move perfect

I ordered another stepoko board just in case (Next day air $$$) but other than the z-axis distance this board works fine. The z-axis moves the X-Motor smooth and with plenty of power it just seems that something is making it move 4X the distance.

Help please....

Did you try swapping driver boards between channels to try and isolate the problem?

Did you put the dip switches back and see if that fixed it?

slukas, did you ever get a response on this? Does SF even monitor these forums? I am having the same issue on my Y-axis now. Been working fine for the first month, then today it suddenly moves 4x as far. The DIP switch for the proper "1/8" step setting seems to be ignored.
