Hi,
I bought Polymer Lithium Ion Battery - 1000mAh (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/339).

Before first usage, do I have to recharge it? Or I can use it directly in my circuit without recharging it for the first time?

In the time it took you to register and post this thread, you could have put the battery on a charger, maybe even had it get fully charged, and used it for the first time.

Depends on what you hook it up to. And how many amps*hours it needs to perform it's function. Self discharge of lipo's isn't that bad, but you never know how long it was on the shelve.

When you buy a new laptop and Windows or whatever OS needs to install/prepare itself for first use it is generally advised to keep the powersupply connected to it as a precaution. You don't want it to fail before it is done. Same applies here.

I asked because I wanted to be carefull with the battery. I didn't want to damage it so I asked.
