Visual inspection usually does not show how electrons are flowing. 1st rule of troubleshooting electronics is "Measure Voltages". And instead of a video with hidden away wiring please provide a matching schematic and part information of the led modules.

Yeah, visual inspection is not really reliable. You still will have to measure volatges to check the degree of your fault, since you cannot accurately estimate the level of voltage across (or current through) by changes in illumination.
