I am an electrical engineer with a technology focus on motors. I am also an assistant scoutmaster. I am trying to put together an inexpensive design for a small robot kit that I can use in some classes for the Boy Scouts Robotics Merit Badge. I plan for the boys to build a small robot that they can program to do line following or ultrasonic collision avoidance. I am looking at these hobby gear motors from Sparkfun. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13258
Does anyone have any experience with them for quality and performance. Any suggestions on a low cost alternative would be appreciated also.
Thank you. I will have many other questions in the days to come related to this robot kit. The budget goal is $25 - $50 for the kit, with a desire to be toward the lower end. I intend to use an Arduino mini or nano for the processor.
Thanks.
