I'm going to buy one of these, but the question is which one. The v3.6 seems to be mature, but may be near the limits of what can be done with that board/cpu. The v4 is described as being much more capable, but rough, not quite ready for serious use, and I'm getting the impression that that has been the case since 2012.

Is the v3 getting a bit long in the tooth ?

Is the v4 stuck in a not-quite ready for prime time status ?

Help me pick which is the better value.

Replying to myself ... I came across this post on eevblog
http://www.eevblog.com/forum/beginners/ ... #msg436685

which led me to this post on dangerousprototypes

Which makes it sound like v4 is stuck, somewhere in hyperspace. OK, so v3 it is, and then maybe v5 (if/when/ever).

I guess it all depends on what you'll use it for. For general MCU serial bus sniffing and stuff, sounds like V3 is enough. If you need more, at some point it makes sense to get an entry level logic analyzer.
