Tips and questions relating to the GPS modules from SFE

Hi - am I right to understand that the EM-406 module only supports the NMEA GGA, GSA, GSV, RMC, VTG, GLL outputs, and no inputs? Reason I ask is I've been looking over the SIRF NMEA manual (linked to from the sfe EM-406 page: http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/GPS/ ... anual1.pdf) and it talks of many commands not mentioned in the EM-406 module. These aren't mentioned in the EM-406 manual though. For example, the $PSRF can be used to change the baud rate, which I think would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Very cool. Any idea if that just uses the NMEA commands I mentioned earlier? Or if it uses something entirely different? Thanks!

it posts NEMA commands. take your SiRF demo and attach its COM port to another COM port running hyperterm.

Do you know if these changes are maintained in non-volatile memory or do I loose the settings when I remove power from the unit?

Thanks,

Settings are stored in battery backed memory - disconnect the battery, everything goes away. IMHO, that's a good thing.
