Here's a library that can be used to control HD44780 LCDs. It is derived from the Arduino LiquidCrystal library and includes emulations of several of the most used Wiring routines.

The library is not very efficient and can currently only run on larger low-end MSPs (MSP430G22xx, MSP430F2013, MSP430F2012 etc.) ... but it works ...
