when i entered the debug mode, it is stuck there forever, and looks like entering a dead loop. I am using Forth here, a really old language, but the idea should be similar with C. when you are programming with C, and using the debug mode, how can you get out of the debug loop after the test code?

What debug mode? Via JTAG? What debugger (hardware and software)? How are you handling the symbol lookup to forth?

You're going to have to be much clearer.

I sometimes get stuck too when I am in debug mode. This has very little to do with what tools I use. I get stuck even without any tool.
