via the serial cable with MSP-449STK-2? I am thinking about whether
it's okie to directly connect the serial ports of the two and then write
a firmware to send numbers from PC to the LCD display.

Yes, You have to program the comunications port RS232 and make so kind of protocol to write to the LCD.

Thank you Humberto.
I am concerned with the voltage difference, since the battery on my board
is 3.0V while normal RS232 port has a voltage of 12V. When I connect them
directly, will it burn my MSp430F449 or will it short circuit my PC?

No problem gavin,
the transistor BC846 and BC807 will protect the MSP.

Have in mind that you gonna need a cable with 3 wires that change TX and RX between the PC and the kit.
