Has anyone used the motor control chip from stmicro, L6470? I'm
having trouble setting up the spi connection. Great chip, BTW, completely SPI comand controlled, 128 microstepping, hardly any "glue", current control and temperature protected.

As far as I can tell via bing and google, I'm the first person on the planet to try it....

Hi,

We took the lazy option and bought the EVAL6470 board and the PCC009V1. The SPI comms is taken care of and we use the dSPIN PC software to setup the chip paramaters, send commands and monitor status. However, the chip goes into thermal shutdown mode if we run it above 400steps per second. Would be grateful if anyone can share their experience with us.
