Contest idea - TAG

Hello All - my mind was wondering and I was thinking of a good AV challenge. I came up with a game of tag, as a competition. 2 vehicles head to head, and over a time period the winner is the one that is "not it" for the longest amount of time.

Would require some standard touch recognition, and then something like a red/green indicator to show if the vehicle is the hunter or the hunted.

Competition spaces could be with our without obstacles.

Does this make sense? Any thoughts?

So, if my bot "tags" your bot hard enough so you cannot move, I win? It's an interesting idea. To me, you need to have some way of finding the other bot. So mandate some type of tag/color rectangle of a certain size that must be on all 4 sides of the bot? (Provided by host of event) How do you see the tag system work? Maybe broadcast who is it via some type of wifi or other radio signal and use cameras to detect contact or have a judge decide? Even if it's not associated with AVC it would be fun to come up the rules, and have competitions for this, say instead of sumo? Set limits for bot size, etc to make it more competitive and use same rings as sumo or larger. (If you fall off you loose, but cannot be pushed off) This seems like an ideal competition for mecanum wheel robots.

Interesting. What might work better is that if the two bots started at opposite ends of the course; the winner is the bot that catches up with the other first, or is closer after some time limit (so that it doesn't go on forever), or closer after both bots are disabled (it happens). That way the don't have to actually collide, and we don't have to bother with determining which bot is 'it' and which is not.
