Raspberrry Pi starter kit

How about a Pi-centric version of the Sparkfun Inventor's Kit v 3.1? https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12001

I think there are some other examples out there, http://www.adafruit.com/products/1014 or http://www.makershed.com/Raspberry_Pi_S ... msrpik.htm

I'm sure the folks here will have lot's of suggestions as to what to include:
1. Base Pi,
2. What 'infrastructure' cables, cases, cards would be best?
3. What preferred IO expanders or RasPi specific modules?
4. What sensors & actuators are best for a PiNoob since this is a kit?
5.What electronic bric a brac, resistors etc to include?

I'm sure there are other commercial examples. I also assume that the Pi's included ethernet and video capability skew the types of projects people do at the start.

Thoughts forum?
