New Digital Thermopcouple interface chip

Post by falingtrea » Tue Nov 13, 2012 11:19 am

Maxim just came out with a new part which I think would be an awesome chip for Sparkfun to support. This is the MAX31855 DIgital themocouple interface chip. It has version of the part for J, K, N,S,T,E,and R type thermocouples, can interface directly to the themocouple, does cold junction compensation, and has a basic SPI DO interface with a signed 14 bit output.

I just finished a design for a dual thermocouple interface board with dual SSR outputs for use in temp control devices. I'm designing a dual PID at the moment. I would be happy to work with SFE on getting the product to market if they are interested and there is community interest in the product.
