I have been looking for a good solution to combine the Huge solar panel PRT-09241 with a LiPo PRT-08484 for some time now.
When doing a new web search I found the rather new (july 2010) BQ24650 from TI.
I ordered a BQ24650 Evaluation kit from TI last week and did some experiments with it.
The max power point voltage of the PRT-09241appears to be approx. 6.9 Volts and under full sunlight the charge current into the LiPo is about 800 mA.
The 2000 mAH PRT-08483 can also be used with this circuit as well as the large solar cell PRT-07840 (which has the same max power point voltage of 6.9 Volt and gives approx. 300 mA charge current)
I hope SFE can and will create a solar LiPo charger board based on this IC
