This post is a request for Sparkfun to either manufacture or acquire a series of Arduino boards compatible with the ANDROID ADK. I would hope that the first would be a revision on the Arduino MEGA 2560. These would be similar to the board at http://www.rt-shop.sakura.ne.jp/rt-shop ... ts_id=2731. The RT-ADK board has the USB HOST chip MAX3421E integrated on the board. It would also be nice to see a full USB-B off of the FTDI chip in place of the micro USB board. I realize that there is a shield for this but it would be nice for it to be all in one to allow for other shields such as the ethernet shield to be used in conjunction with cases like the Arduino crib. I look forward to the feedback on this post.

In the mean time you can use the $25 USB Host shield that Sparkfun already sells.

Personally this is my favorite board so far:

Finally, note that Sparkfun is already selling IOIO, which can easily be made to support the ADK standard as well. I'm sure Ytai is working on that.

Any chance of SparkFun carrying just the RD-ADK board without the shield? It would be nice as you have to currently purchase the kit from http://www.rt-shop.sakura.ne.jp/rt-shop ... ts_id=2731. Their kit costs US $389.66 which is a bit much for having the usb host chip included on the board. I did some checking and if you download https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/adk/a ... e_0506.zip and check out the board documentation you'll see that it is covered under the CCL which would allow someone to produce just the ADK board. It would be nice if sparkfun could build these boards. Just a thought. :) I did check out http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/new ... t%3A370646. That is a nice board but doesn't have the ability to use the standard arduino shields easily. Being that you can't fit the arduino mega, the USB HOST shield and the ethernet shield in the arduino crib it would be nice to again see an all in one board that saves space and doesn't have the ICSP header blocked by the USB HOST shield.
