I know this is quite an old thread, but have you considered using a plasma cutter instead of a laser? You can pick up a plasma cutter easily capable of cutting 4mm aluminium for a couple of hundred quid second hand, then you'd need to supply gas (air cutting is not so good for aluminium) and mount the cutting piece to your CNC machine.
