What do you think of this project idea?

The www.terasic.com starter boards are pretty common and cool, what if someone make a board that connects with a 40 pin cable to the terasic board and the new board has pins and places for GPS, LCDs, sensors and other things popular with the sparkfun crowd? And maybe add a "protoshield" or breadboard area for new interfaces, With some starter code to go with it. Has anyone ever considered this idea?
