EEG experiment and WAV trigger

Hello everybody,
I am a total ignorant in informatics, but I have been suggested to use the WAV trigger in an experimental set-up with EEG and auditory stimuli.
My question is, if I don't want to connect the WAvtrigger to the second computer, can I connect it directly to the input box of the eeg machine and use the button to play the traces and elicit the trigger (--> marker on the eeg)?
I don't know if the question is clear, but any experience with this device in eeg set up is very welcome!!!
