Detect when the watch is inside the box

Hello,
I want an advice on how can I detect when the watch is inside the watch winder.

This is an example of the watch winder:
Heiden Monaco Single Watch Winder - Dual Powered - Black Leather - Japanese Mabuchi Motor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MAZFIL5/re ... sAb9844AM7

I want to use a sensor that can detect when there is a watch inside for the winder to switch on. And switch off when the box does not have a watch.

Any suggestions are helpful. I am making a watch wonder for myself. Thanks.

Simplest way is probably an IR emitter/detector pair inside the box.

Since the watch-casing seems to be made of metal I'd suggest a simple solution like a switch. The watch-casing being the bridge between the switch contacts.
