Motor for waving decorations

Hello, I wasn't sure where else to ask just a question so I turned here. I am making a snow man out of plywood for lawn decoration this holiday season, and want to make its arm move back and forth like it's waving. Does anyone know of a motor setup or kit to help me do this?

Thanks!
Mike

How about a windshield wiper motor?

A windshield wiper would work. I can definitely try that. I was also looking for recommendation on the link arms to make the arm wave. I didn't know if there was a kit available, or if anyone had recommendations on the link system as well.

Thanks.

I'd look over at one of the Halloween forums (or the Christmas ones) for more ideas. A google search for "waving arm prop" turns up quite a bit, including designs based on PVC pipe or aluminum flat bar stock. Also, look at the mechanism used for the animated reindeer lawn ornaments. Easiest way may be to mount a wheel on the motor shaft and attach a linkage off-center on the wheel to the arm. Use a pivot at the elbow.
