Hey guys, I'd like to ask if it's possible to connect my USB Barcode Reader with my PIC18F4550. My idea is that i'll connect my barcode with a usb to serial converter and then interface it with my PIC. I'm not sure if it's possible but as what I've read from some forums it might work. Just making sure guys before i buy a usb-to-serial converter.

No, that won't work. The barcode reader is almost certainly an HID device, and needs a USB host (like a PC). The USB-serial converter needs a USB host too.

It may be possible to program the PIC to be a USB host, but then you don't need the adapter.

If you need a serial barcode reader, PM me. I'm pretty sure I have one left. $200+ barcode when new (I think it's a Symbol tech one). I'd let it go for $30.
