FTDI232 pins

Hello.
I have a question regarding FTDI232 chips. In a project I would like to transmit data from a PIC to my computer. Data will be transmitted bilaterally but not at the same time. I got a FTDI232 chip that includes DTR, DSR, RTS and CTS pins. Are those useful in any way? If not, should they be grounded? Finally, why is there no CLK pin on the FTDI232 chip? Even if I set the same baudrate on the PIC and my computer, how are they going to be synched? I have skimmed through the documentation but it confused me even more.
