Hello,

I have been working to design a projector lift system for my Optoma Technology PK320 Pico Projector

Dimensions (WxHxD) 4.7 x 1.2 x 2.7" / 11.9 x 3.0 x 6.9 cm
Weight 8.3 oz / 235 g

The system would go in my basement ceiling. There is 14 inches of space in between the wooden beams in the ceiling and 7 inches of depth between the bottom of the flooring of the first floor, and the ceiling of the basement. I would like the system to be concealed while it is fully retracted.

I have been doing some research and would like to make a motorized scissor lift system.
I am not sure what size to get, but I found these to use for the support system:

My main problem is trying to figure out how to make the system motorized. I have a few stepper motors from past projects, but am stuck when it comes to creating a pulley system or using gears. I am not sure what I would need that would be able to lift such a system in the limited space I have. I would also like to be able to drive it from an arduino.

If anyone has any ideas on how this can be accomplished, please let me know!

My 1st inclination would be towards something like this.

Just an idea. Look at the motorized assembly that is used in automobiles to electronically control the height of your drivrer's seat.
You can probably get the whole assembly cheap from a junk yard.

That is exactly what I am looking to build. To make the system motor controlled I am planning on using a linear actuator with a pulley system attached to the base of the lift (similar to what they have in the photo).

I also found this tutorial that I am trying to adapt to an Arduino Uno and 2 relays (or an H bridge). Any ideas?

Looked around but couldn't find something that would work well in the space I have but thanks for the suggestion.
