Hi everyone!

I am ridiculously new to electronics, although I understand the basics. However, I picked up a "Snap Circuit" set for my 6 year old and I to play with. It is awesome.

We would like to up our game and make some of the circuits in the real world after we have already test run them with the snap circuit set.

Is there a guide for what to buy/use as an analogue to the Snap Circuit sets? Lessons? Suggestions?

Unfortunately the jump from something like Snap Circuits to something more permanent is pretty big. It would involve something like soldering to something like this: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8815

One half-step would be to prototype circuits using wireless breadboard instead of the Snap Circuit. This is still temporary but will give you access to a broader range of components and functions. If you want to play with microcontroller circuits the SparkFun Inventor's Kit is a great place to start. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12001

Just from a learning standpoint there are tons of books that will provide experiments and projects. Try searches like "beginning electronics projects", "electronics cookbook" or "electronics experiments".

uChip is right, look at the inventor's kit here. You didn't state what Snap Circuit set you got. There are a few different sets. Look for an inventor's kit or set that matches what you want to do.

If there isn't a close match, do a Google search for a schematic/tutorial for a circuit you want to do. This will tell you what to purchase. You can purchase components separately.
