So we recently saw this http://www.doublerobotics.com/ and thought we could take a co-workers old Roomba and mount an Android tablet on it to make one. I came across this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fl which indicates that the tablet could control the Roomba if I install a Rootooth.

My issue is that I have model 4220 to work with and based on the serial number (jen042200507150202075) and this refernce http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewto ... =1&t=16354 it appears that this unit was built in July of 2005 which is about 4 months too old to be compatible with the Rootooth according to this https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12581.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with getting an older model of the Roomba working with bluetooth. I found this http://hackingroomba.com/projects/build ... h-adapter/ but it was written in 2006 and I am pretty sure that gets me exactly what I would get with the Rootooth and probably doesn't apply to my model. I've also heard that "Version "2.1" contained updated software and a new front wheel. Version "2.1" was issued in 2005, and the update was made available to existing units as well". If I could get my hands on the updates would that make me able to use the Rootooth? Do the updates only apply to the new wheel (which I doubt I could get my hands on)?

Any help or ideas are welcome! :)
