Questions relating to designing PCBs

Dear all,

As you might notice from the question, I'm a complete beginner on designing PCBs.

I'm a designing a cape for the Beaglebone black (BBB) that has a chip that will receive and process analog inputs (very small inputs, order of microV) in the on-chip ADC.

Since I'm going to use the 3V3 voltage source ports in the P9 header of the BB, I'm wondering if it's also ok trace all the GND ports of the components I'm using to a pin male header that will connect to one of the DGND ports of the BBB.

Do I need a ground plane for this? or wiring all GND ports to a pin in a male header through a trace is good enough?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)
