I downloaded library designspark that was probably converted from eagle.
HOwever - i see there are only 2 pins there - but sometimes design experts recomend connecting crstal housing to GND.

So my question - Why is there only 2 pins and not 3 pins on crystal symbols?

Is it ok to leave crystal housing unconnected?

Most through-hole crystals only have two connections.

If you want to be able to ground the can then you would need to add a 3rd pad to the component yourself.

But I would not bother unless its for an RF board.
