Questions relating to designing PCBs

Hi all,

I've just recently started (i.e. March 1) using eagle to layout a pcb for a project. With the help of google and a buddy who's used it before, I've got most of it done. However, there is one thing that I can't seem to figure out how to fix. I created some custom IC packages in the software for parts I couldn't find in the libraries, but these parts don't work with the autorouter. I would like them to. I could probably route the traces myself, but for future reference, I'd like to know how to get custom ICs to work with it because those circuits may not be as simple as the one I'm working on now. I believe the problem is that the pins don't match the grid in the board window, but I don't know because the spacing between the pins will always be narrower than the grid. Does anyone have suggestions about things that I can look into to fix this?

Thanks
