Gumstix <-----> GM862-GPS

I am considering using the GM862 module in tandem with a gumstix board to transfer GPS coordinates and then to send them via text message. Has anyone had any experiences in this? I have done a considerable amount of research, however I am still trying to come up with the best combination. The application is for tracking a high-altitude package. If anyone has experience with/ would like to suggest a different/better idea, just let me know. I haven't made any commitments yet, I'm just trying to see what I'll be up against
