Tips and questions relating to the GPS modules from SFE
#181937
Hi all,

I'm using a DIY datalogger/dataacq setup for my race car. It uses an active external GPS antenna from Adafruit: http://www.adafruit.com/products/960

For cleanliness and convenience, I'd prefer to mount the antenna inside of my car. The sunroof has been deleted and replaced with a fiberglass panel. Would it be possible to mount the GPS antenna upside down under the fiberglass panel? Or I suppose since I'd be using double sided tape, I could mount it right side up under the panel. But does it need to be mounted on a metal surface? I've read some things saying that some types of antennas require a metal ground plane below.

Thanks a lot,
Dan
