Tips and questions relating to the GPS modules from SFE

I am working on interfacing the HAC-LN96 wireless modem with the Lassen IQ GPS. Because the LN96 is fixed at 9600baud, I needed a GPS that allowed the port speed to match. The IQ can have it's second port set to 9600 baud and NMEA out. The problem is that I don't get complete NMEA sentences out at that rate. At 4800, everything looks good and I get complete sentences.

I've also noticed that when I set port 2 (using IQ monitor software) to 9600 baud, port 1 will start outputting NMEA data.

Has anyone had any experiences with 9600 baud NMEA data?

If I for some reason it's not possible, does anyone know if a decent (and inexpensive) moving map software solution that uses TSIP?

Thanks in advance for the help,
Steve
