Ardunio ide 1.8.9
shows COM4 is currently open. Please close any other terminal programs that may be using COM4 and try again.
no other software is open
and the com port (serial monitor) in Arduino has :
Test Artemis Nano
Failed pin 15
Failed pin 13
Failed pin 11
Failed pin 9
Failed pin 7
Failed pin 5
Failed pin 3
Failed pin 1

is this a hardware or software problem

Hi ngdayo,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Artemis Nano. I believe what you are seeing on the serial monitor is the QC test code so that will not relate to any hardware issues since it needs to be on a testbed for those pin tests to return valid/pass.

Do you have the SparkFun RedBoard version or the SparkX BlackBoard version of the Artemis Nano? If you have the SparkX BlackBoard version, a quick suggestion to fix this issue would be to either make sure your SVL Baudrate is set to 115200. If that does not work, try switching to the Ambiq Secure Bootloader and retry. If you have the RedBoard version, we'll need to do some more troubleshooting.
