"Programmer" may mean a person who creates programs.
It may also mean a piece of equipment that transcribes programs to PROMs etc.
Can we use different words for these two kinds of "Programmer".

What is the scope of your suggestion? Are you looking to change the main site as well as the forums? Is there any one instance on this site which prompted this post?

Truth be told, I've never had a problem discerning between the two using the simple contextual queues inherent in written and spoken English.

Way back in the day (aka a few years ago), the primary items Sparkfun sold were programmers (the hardware). The forums were started to help people get started with their new tools and they were segregated by the product line they supported. Over time, the forums evolved into general support for any project with a specific brand of microcontroller.
