So i went to this site to "live chat with a rep" and when the site loaded the only thing on the page was a header that says "it works!" ill try calling in the morning with my product question.

IRC is not an http protocol. You need an IRC client:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRC
Or you can read the
freenode.net site to find their
webchat client, which is a java application that allows your browser to act as an IRC client.
