Aloha,

We recently purchased a Lassen IQ GPS eval kit from your site. If i remember correctly, the website said that the USB interface could be disconnected and external power applied to run the GPS. I noticed in the pictures at the store site that there are jumpers on the eval board, which I assume allow for disconnecting the USB.

However, the eval board we recieved only has two holes where the jumpers are located in the site pics.

Can we still ( very easily) disconnect the USB, or are we SOL?

Thanks for your reply, and Aloha! :D

Hi!

There are two jumpers on nearly all of our eval boards that disconnect TX/RX from the device. This allows an external device to attach to the Lassen's TX/RX without competing with the USB TX/RX pins.

You can externally power the board with 3.3V just fine. This is not recommended for large scale deployments as the internal vreg on the USB chip may have issues over time, but it's ok for proto-ing. You can also power the board by attaching the USB connection.
