I am looking for an inexpensive programmer that will burn Atmel SPLD's--the 16V8's and 22V10's. I think it must be pretty easy to build something like this, and the commercial ones that I've found all cost more than $1000 so I would rather not buy one. I get the impression from what little I've found that something that will program the "C" version PIC's is pretty close to being able to program the Atmel GAL's, but I don't know that for sure. Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it.
