I would hope the original poster figured out what he wanted to do or gave it up already since this post is 2 years old.
If you are interested in self reporting trackers search for "GSM GPRS GPS" on E-Bay. There are some pretty small ones on there.

GPS and a Super long range 900 mhz transmitter. some of these have upwards of a 30 mile range..
bust out your locator and go find your bike. Might have to do some driving but it shouldnt be to much.

Yeah - so long as you don't have one of those locks that can be opened with a Bic pen.... or a combination lock with only 3 numbers ranging from 0 to 9. Both of them will only give you a false sense of security.
