I finally got my shipment of parts and after working through a few troubles I got around to testing the shift registers with the LEDs. Works great! Thanks a ton for all the help, I really appreciate it :D Can't wait to start hooking up more LEDs and doing animation.

Hot Pepper on a Stick! These LEDs are bright!

I just coded up a PWM feature so I can control the brightness on each LED individually.

8 levels of brightness. 8 is 5V, no PWM. 1 is 0.625V, with PWM. The LED is spec'd to run at 1.5V@20mA. They're all hooked up to 180Ohm resistors to work at that spec when given 5V.

So, the 8 setting is really, really bright. I can't look at it straight on for more than a second. The 1 setting? 0.625V with a 180Ohm resistor ... Almost as bright! I can see the difference, but it still burns my eyes :P

Sorry, I just wanted to share my surprise at how well these LEDs perform. So well, in fact, that they're causing me problems :P
