:? I am attempting to assemble a weather station as outlined in https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ph ... -guide-v11 using an external 12v power supply attached to the barrel connector or screw connectors described in the article. However when powered this way, the particle photon will not boot successfully. I can only get the weather shield and photon to work correctly when powering the photon via the USB connector. I have measured the voltage on the 3.3 volt rail when externally powered via 12v and it measures roughly 3.25v. Has anyone successfully used the photon weather shield with external power?

Please post a link to the product page or data sheet for the 12V supply. Triple check your solder connections for the external connectors.

Beware of unregulated "wall warts" which WILL exceed 12V. In any case, you can much more safely use a lower voltage.

Describe what happens when you try to boot with the external power supply connected.
