I'm looking into building a usb hub attachment for raspberry pi zero w compatible with uart attachments (gps, imu) and other usb devices (HID - mouse, keyboard). Found the CH340G (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14050) which looks like most likely option. While documentation says it's uart compatible am unsure if would also work with other usb devices (mouse, keyboard).

It's a USB to serial converter. USB devices connected through a hub are intended to work independant alongside eachother. They should not interfere as USB is a standard that takes care of conflicts.

Not sure how you want that CH340G to interact with USB mouse and keyboards though. The RPi Zero is the mediator (USB master) that makes data go between it's peripherals. Even if there is a hub in between. The CH340G and mouse and keyboard or whatever are only slaves.
