Thingdev + relay

Post by TS22082 » Fri Dec 01, 2017 11:06 am

Hey everyone! I successfully got the Thing Dev connected to firebase dbas, now I have questions about phase 2 of my project.

I'd like to hook up a relay and control a 120vac lightbulb but I'm noticing the relays on this website and others are controlled via 5vdc signal pin, and my thing dev output is only 3.2vdc. Is the 3.2 volts going to be enough to trigger the signal pin of the relay?

Switching 120 VAC is dangerous. I recommend using one of these instead: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14236

Hello,
Try using this instead: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14236

Be careful when dealing with AC. It's dangerous.

Cheers
