Hi, all -

I'm trying to perform a tutorial using a BOB-10680. Unfortunately for me, the author of the tutorial showed pin connections directly from the 74HC595 (the device on the BOB-10680), and the pin names don't match.

BOB-10680:
SER_IN
L_Clock
Clock
/OE
/Reset
GND
VCC

74HC595:

Can someone help me map the breakout pins to the device? Thanks a lot.

Well, you know most of the pins since it's pretty explanatory. After process of elimination:

SER = Ser_In
L_Lock = RCLK
Clock = SRCLK

Yeah, I could have (and in fact did) infer a few of them. I've just read enough stories about miswiring leading to smoking devices that I wanted to be as sure as possible before I flipped the switch.

I'm not sure where Dr. Molloy got the information for his drawing http://exploringbeaglebone.com/chapter8 ... is_Chapter(first image on the left) but the terminology for the pins seems to be different now. I'm assuming that pin 10 of the 74HC595 corresponds to /Reset on the breakout board?

Thanks for the help.

There should be a green check mark close to the Quote button in my posts.
