Recently put together the Pro Micro 5V with the Venus GPS, displaying on an OLED. It's pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

The question I have though is if there is a chance that during the uploading of sketches, if 5V could go through a pin and damage one of my 3.3V components?

For example the TX of the GPS is going through pin 10 currently, and in the tutorial (Made for an UNO) for the GPS it warns to disconnect the TX before uploading to prevent damage. Does the Pro Micro have this problem too?

If so my current solution is to wire a DPDT switch to the TX on one pole and throw, and the power line from USB to the opposite pole and throw so that either USB is connected and TX is disconnected or vice versa. Is there an easier way to ensure the safety of my GPS?

Thank you in advance.
