Hello, clueless newbie here, I would appreciate your advice on an overheating Lilypad MP3.

I am currently using the Lilypad MP3 (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11013).
I've successfully used it to run the default program, uploaded new sketches, etc.
Last night I was trying to use it to run some Neopixels, using this tutorial: http://www.instructables.com/id/Bionic- ... lypad-MP3/
I was using some jumper wires and assembling in part on a breadboard for ease.
The Neopixels were lighting up really well and all seemed good, but then I looked down and noticed my Lilypad had started smoking

I quickly disassembled everything and it stopped smoking which was good but unfortunately that means I'm not entirely sure what started to cause said fire. It's possible that I shorted something somewhere with my rickity setup :?

Anyway - today I am diagnosing to see what's up, and here's a few things I noticed:
- Things still seem to be working on the board. I can upload new sketches to it, and the Trigger program is still working correctly
- HOWEVER when I am running it off battery it now starts to get reallllllly hot in one area of the Lilypad. I don't remember if it used to do that before, so it's very possible that this is normal. However I'm extra scared now because i don't want my board to blow up while I'm wearing it!
- Careful inspection and vague memory of smoking components seems to suggest that the component that caught on fire was this one (see green arrow) - http://imgur.com/a/A54EG

I looked up what that part is and I think it's this: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tlv62565.pdf
- The component is pretty small but it looks a little warped. I don't know if that's normal but I wonder if it's because the plastic covering heated up and bubbled a little bit.
- The board is getting really hot right around this area so I suspect it's the perpetrator

Anyway, a few questions where I could use your help:
- Is it normal for the board to get super hot (in which case I'm worried about nothing)?
- If it sounds like something's wrong, any ideas about what I can do to fix it?

Thanks for your help!
