Hello!
I have an interesting problem, I own this Redboard https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retired/10776 and one of these https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13678 .

In this Hackster article https://www.hackster.io/user16726/confi ... w_projects which is based on this one
http://www.breakoutbros.com/esp8266-the ... ot-module/ the author describes using an Arduino sketch found here http://www.martyncurrey.com/arduino-to- ... mincation/ to make use of an ESP8266 and at least get things started. In the article (both of them) the author states that the ESP8266 can't be powered by the Arduino (or Redboard) when it's powered by the USB connection. He suggests an external supply. I've selected a LiPo battery and a 3.3v regulator, however the Redboard PTH contains a barrel connector, doesn't this connector switch out the connection to the FTDI basic when engaged? I'd plan on connecting a 9V battery to the barrel connector instead. However I was always taught that it was one or the other with these boards. Suggestions please.
