Hi.
I have few questions about that product - SparkFun USB to Serial Breakout - FT232RL (the newest version - BOB-12731)
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12731

Does somebody know what is the maximum current that can be drained from the 3.3V line?
And what is the function has the board switch?

I think that FT232RL current limit is 50mA but I'm not sure if externel regulator is used for work around of that limitation...

If you look at the schematic, you will see that the FT232RL chips supplies 3.3 volts, and not a separate regulator. The FT232RL's datasheet says that the chip can supply up to 50 mA on the 3.3 volt output.
