Redboard does not install correctly

My COM1 and 3 are said to be working fine by device manager, but my red board is not.

I plug it in and it says "failed to install driver"

so i downloaded the FDTI drivers and attempted to install them, but it gave me an error of "The device could not start (10). And I am completely stumped. If you need more information, please reply.

I started with a RedBoard; I installed the Arduino IDE 1.6.6 and it just works in Windows 8 and Windows 7. No special drivers were required.

So which version IDE and which version of Windows?
