I am trying to reproduce the hello world example with a 16X2 LCD model AMD160K1-FS having 36 pins (18 on each side)
The arduino tutorial on the item page refers to a 16 pin LCD so i tried my best to set it up but wonder what to do with the other pins. I've loaded the program, the back light goes on and some boxes or lines appears when i play with the potentiometer.
Can someone please help me with this?

I see where you posted on the Adafruit forums, but Googling your model number doesn't bring up anything. Do you have a datasheet?

I'll bet it's this one...and there's at least 2 typos in the model number.

The extra 18 pins are duplicates of the other 18 pins. Leave them open/unplugged/alone/no-toucha-da-extra-pinza
