The first question is about how suitable these are to measuring air temperature. The datasheet suggests, to me anyway, that the sensor is targeted for surface readings. I'm attempting open-air readings anyways, which brings me to question two.

The board has a bit of drift in it's results. I wired it to my Uno to obtain data and print the results to an LCD at a rate of once per minute. The results started at about 77.56 °F. Over about 10 minutes, it dropped to 77.00 °F. This is probably accurate and I'm just being paranoid, but as I typed this it jumped back up to 77.11. It doesn't really feel like 77 to me, which brings me to the final question.

The product page says an accuracy within 0.5 °C. This tells me that it can return a negative result (just about -3) when the temperature is still ~30 °F (and vice versa)?

Slightly related: when printing a float to the LCD, is the number automatically rounded/truncated to two decimal places?
